Authority
The County Commissioner acts as the county's chief executive and public-safety administrator. Department heads retain day-to-day command while remaining accountable for policy, budgeting, performance, and interagency coordination.

Cross-Commissioned Operations
When qualified and properly equipped, the Commissioner may perform Sheriff's patrol duties, traffic enforcement, calls for service, fire suppression, rescue, EMS support, apparatus operations, and incident command. While attached to an agency, the Commissioner follows that agency's SOP and established incident chain of command.
